In the profound atmosphere of the Anahuacalli Museum, I gaze at these ancient artifacts, seeking to ignite the spark of continuity between modern art and pre-Columbian aesthetics, as envisioned by Diego Rivera. The figures from these ancient American civilizations are particularly endearing and whimsical; although sculpted in a refined, stylized manner, they are simple yet powerful.
Rivera's museum is a model institution for the preservation of cultural heritage. With great enthusiasm, collectors unearth those symbolic fragments and proclaim their existence in terms that contemporary people can understand. As history continues to accelerate, the past itself becomes the most surreal subject—allowing us to discover new beauty in things that are vanishing.
